CHICAGO — The Reverend Jesse Jackson and Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin are meeting with Facebook executives in Chicago today.
Two Facebook officials from Washington D.C., one specializing in outreach, the other in policy, met with Rev. Jesse Jackson and Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin at Rainbow Push Headquarters.
“This is another example of where Springfield has put citizens at risk in their lives, in their homes,” said Commissioner Richard Boykin, Cook County Board.
Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin is lead the charge on Friday in an effort to stop the growing number of crimes that are going viral on Facebook Live. Commissioner Boykin and others are asking the social media giant to shut Facebook Live down for 30 days until technology is put in place to prevent the crimes from going viral.
“I again urge all clergy, for the next three Sundays, if you will please make special announcement in your services,” said Commissioner Richard Boykin from the 1st District of the Cook County Board.
Gunfire rang out at the corner of Central and Corcoran in Chicago’s south Austin neighborhood Friday afternoon. Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin said he counted 30 rounds of ammunition on the ground.
“I saw it. It was a war zone,” Boykin said.
